Plugging Away in Iowa

As we reported in Friday's blog post, the ED in 08 campaign is making a major push in Iowa over the next week to get candidates talking about their agendas for America's schools.

This morning, that state's leading newspaper, The Des Moines Register, ran a piece about issue campaigns operating in the state and made prominent mention of the ED in 08 campaign.

Some people criticize issue campaigns, but this piece pointed to all the state leaders taking part in our campaign.

Two former Iowa governors - Republican Robert Ray and Democrat Tom Vilsack - are part of the ED in 08 campaign, as is Democratic State Rep. Phil Wise.

Rep. Wise did a great job of explaining the ED in 08 mission:

Iowans are hungry for an agenda that says, ‘I have a plan to do something about (education)' ... We are not asking candidates to agree with our agenda. We're asking them to tell us what their agenda is.

As our TV ads continue airing in Iowa this week, we hope and expect that the many presidential candidates who will be in the state for a series of high-profile political events will start telling Iowans (and all Americans) their agendas for our schools.
